Tim Lukaszewski, MD known affectionately by his hundreds of patients and colleagues throughout Alameda County as “Dr. Tim” died May 4, 2019. Time is running out. Tim has been very sick, lost a lot of weight and his condition is rapidly deteriorating. He's very weak and sleeps a lot of the time. We made it to April! Tim has been in hospice now for over a month, and the team of nurses and social workers has been great. The hospice nurse has especially helped with changing Tim's meds so he's more comfortable. He's now taking a low dose of methadone and dexamethasone. The methadone keeps Tim's pain level steady . . .

Today we got sad news. Tim’s recent PET scan showed that the cancer has spread and metastasized to new areas. He stopped the latest chemotherapy that had been making him sick, and had not been effective. There are no more treatment options. Tim’s Oncologist will schedule him for enrollment in Hospice within the next few days, although . . .

We know we've been pretty quiet for a while. The news lately hasn't been so good. In reviewing Tim’s latest test results, they show that the chemo treatments he’s been on have stopped being effective in combatting his cancer.
